Room 1 – Pīwakawaka (Fantail)

This bird symbolises the juniors because of their playful transformation from early childhood into their first year at school.

As you walk through the bush, the fantails will follow you, picking up the bugs and insects disrupted by your feet. This is much the same as the way the juniors follow the seniors of the school, picking up skills, knowledge, and leadership.
