I love our vibrant community and the amazing students we nurture every day. I firmly believe that strong relationships with our akonga are key to their success. In my role as the acting staff representative, I’m committed to fostering even stronger connections between our passionate staff and the supportive board, ensuring that together we create the best possible environment for our students to thrive.

Deirdre Jones – elected parent representative

Hello, I am Deirdre Jones and have been a member of the Board for 4 years. I have 4 children in Kaingaroa School from year 6 to new entrants. I joined the board at first with no knowledge of what it entailed but wanted to be involved in the place where my children would spend a lot of their learning life. I have learnt a lot with the support of the other members and continue to do so. I believe that Kaingaroa School has many positive values, strengths and opportunities for children and am excited to see what the future holds for us all.

Of Ngāpuhi descent, my husband and I have lived and worked within the Far North community for more than 16 years. Committed to our children’s future, I joined the BOT to be an open and honest voice with the best interests of the students, parents, and community in mind. I am proud to be a BOT member and encourage others to find more positive ways to contribute to their children’s education and future.

Tai Peterson –  elected parent representative

My name is Tai Petersen. My wife and I have 3 children going to Kaingaroa School. I believe that education is the cornerstone of our civilization, and the early years of school set our students up for life. I noticed that our school had a need for active board members, so I decided to put myself forward for the role. Being on a school board is a commitment and the responsibility is not one I take lightly. In my spare time I like to hang out with family or spend time on our boat.

Sarah Boniface –  elected parent representative

Kia ora e te whanau. My name is Sarah Boniface and I am first and foremost a mum to a proud Kaingaroa student. I am on the board because I realise it takes a community to run a school and when everyone contributes their bit, success will follow. It’s important to me that Kaingaroa School continues to flourish and where our children get the opportunity to succeed.
