The Huia bird represents senior students and is an extinct bird with a lot of mana. The feathers were worn by chiefs of high rank and their whānau. Known as one of the world’s most remarkable birds, its long beak enabled the birds to collaboratively feed, symbolising the collaborative nature of learning at our school.
Huia feathers were given as tokens of friendship and respect.
