Outside the Classroom Learning

Children will have numerous opportunities to learn outside the classroom during their time at Kaingaroa School. This will include attending and participating in class trips, enacting kaitiakitanga, connecting whanaungatanga, sports events, and much more, in line with a local curriculum.

We live in a unique and diverse part of the world with endless learning opportunities, which we endeavour to make the most of wherever possible in our learning.

We facilitate three camps a year for children to have a diverse range of experiences offsite:

• Year 3 / 4
• Year 5 / 6
• Year 7 / 8

Years 1 and 2 attend a day camp.

Each camp is carefully planned with consideration of strong purpose, the NZ curriculum, class and school-wide focus, and influential developmental theories appropriate to the specific age so that we can provide as meaningful experiences as possible.
